About Runcom

Founded in 1997, Runcom Technologies develops superior technological standards and products that target the emerging Beyond 3G market, enabling the delivery of enhanced communications services to cellular phones and other mobile devices. Runcom is the recognized pioneer of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA®) technology, accepted in 2001 by ETSI as the core component of the DVB-RCT standard, a wireless-enabled platform that facilitates content-rich interactivity between TV broadcasters and subscribers over traditional terrestrial infrastructure. OFDMA® has also been incorporated as the preferred solution for the IEEE 802.16a BWA standard, enabling telecoms to provide customers with enhanced voice and data services. The technology continues to strike roots in the expanding wireless agenda, recently becoming a cornerstone of the emerging 802.16e standard for Wireless MAN (Metropolitan Area Networks). Runcom's leading standing in the OFDMA® solutions arena and close involvement with every stage of its ongoing development positions it competitively to lead the way in providing solutions for lucrative, mobile Wireless MAN applications in Beyond 3G markets.

Rumcom's System-On-Chip (SOC) and Base Station System-On-Board (SOB) product lines are all based upon OFDMA® technology and address a wide range of players in the communications arena, including cellular, wireless and telecom operators, Set Top Box (STB) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) manufacturers, system integrators, broadcasters, and content and service providers. Based in Israel, Runcom plays a key role in the leading, global standardization bodies, including DVB, ETSI-BRAN and IEEE 802.16. The Company's proprietary technology is protected by 18 international patents.

Runcom's primary investors are Concord Ventures and Vertex Ventures, leading Israeli venture capital firms with a focus on innovative telecommunications technologies that provided a combined $8M in the first round of funding.

Technology & Products: Setting the Standards for Wireless Communication

OFDMA® was developed by Runcom as an enhancement technology to the existing Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) standard used in major wireless markets. A comprehensive wireless access solution, OFDMA® technology enables "outdoor to indoor" operation without the need of outdoor antennas on the subscriber side and is faster and far more effective and reliable than its OFDM predecessor. The technology enables the delivery of converged, content-rich media for cellular operators and wireless telecoms, and provides bi-directional, interference-free broadcast capabilities for Interactive TV providers. In all environments (Cellular, BWA and DVB) OFDMA® facilitates the high-speed flow of data - downstream and upstream - to multiple subscribers, while allocating bandwidth and QoS according to real-time needs.

System On Chip (SOC) --MSS : RNA200

Runcom's RNA200 System-On-a-Chip offers a cost effective solution for fixed and mobile user terminals, Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) manufacturers and Subscriber Unit (SU) modem developers of Beyond 3G, Broadband Wireless Access / MMDS applications. The modem chip complies with the IEEE802.16-2005 standard and uses OFDMA ? technology to leverage broadband wireless communication in both downstream and upstream transmissions. Moreover, RNA200 implements Physical (PHY) and MAC layer functions and includes analog modules and embedded CPU to reduce the total cost of the Bill of Materials of the terminal.

Base Station : RNF2000/RNA2000

The RNF2000 is an FPGA chipset, and the RNA2000 is an ASIC version of the RNF2000. Both rhe RNF2000 and the RNA2000 implement both the PHY and the MAC layers of the IEEE802.16-20005 standard. The RNF2000 / RNA2000 offer a cost effective solution for a base station blade card.
