    Metanoia Communication, established in Hsinchu Science Park Taiwan in 2004, is a leading edge fabless IC design company specialized in broadband communication and an active member of ITU-T SG15-Q4.  

    The company’s initial capital of NT$140 million was funded by ELAN Microelectronics Corps.  Metanoia has two research facilities which located in the HsinChu Science Park, Taiwan, Grass Valley, California and Austin, Texas in the USA.  

    The USA team has worked and grown together for over 10 years with roots in US Robotics and 3Com prior to Metanoia.

     Metanoia combines systems architecture and algorithm expertise with integrated circuit design capabilities; concentrating its efforts on the fixed line communications market, including xDSL, GPON, G.hn and G.hnem. 

    Since 2005, the company has offered VDSL and VDSL2 products for CO and CPE with stable performance and reliable qualities.

The Metanoia Communications VDSL/VDSL2 solutions MT2201/MT3201 and MERLIN (MT2301/MT3301) offer an economic solution for service providers to provide data, voice and video to the telephone subscriber at the home or business. VDSL/VDSL2 is an emerging technology designed to provide data rates in excess of 100 Mbit over existing subscriber loops. The company has actively participated in Committee T1E1, ETSI, IEEE 802.3 and the ITU-T to ensure that our products will adhere to all international standards.

1. MT2201/MT3201 :

Metanoia Communication offers state-of-the-art communication IC's for VDSL2. The product family includes complete chip-set solutions for both Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).  MT2201/MT3201 is the first family of end-to-end VDSL/ VDSL2 (12a) solutions, is compliant with the ITU-T VDSL2 standard (G.993.2). It consists of a single-channel DMT with 8a, 12a, and 17a profile and a 12 MHz bandwidth AFE with built in LD.

Leveraging the maximum bandwidth of up to 12 MHz, MT2201/MT2301 drives 100Mb/60Mb over copper wires within 1000ft. Metanoia's MT2201/MT2301 offers a high performance VDSL2 solution with minimum extra devices and very competitive price for system design.

2. MT2301/MT3301 :

 The MT2301 is part of the Metanoia’s VDSL2 chipset solution named Merlin.  The Merlin is a single chip programmable Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) Digital Subscriber Loop (DSL) digital modulator/demodulator processor unit for broadband access.  The device supports all committee T1E1.4 and ITU-T G.993.2 DSL discrete multi-tone based specifications, as well as IEEE 802.3 10PASS-TS.

The MT3301 is a highly integrated Analog Front End for VDSL2 application which provides all analog functions necessary for receiving and transmitting VDSL2 data according to ETSI and ANSI.  The high integrity with low distortion and noise reduces the need for complex and costly external components.  A serial control interface allows the software programming of various functional blocks.  Power back off combined with power down for each block provides the flexible power saving policy.  An on-chip clean up PLL provides all the required internal clocks.  As single port device it is intended to be used in customer premises equipment (CPE).  The full 8/12/17/30MHz bandwidth support in downstream and upstream direction also allows the use in central office (CO).
